Barbara Olivieri
After holding strategic positions for years in companies such as Inditex, Victoria’s Secret, and Apple, Barbara Olivieri decided to launch her start-up. Few questions that will guide us through the concept and the vision of B_Labb.
Tell us about you and the retail world
I can undoubtedly say that Retail is my world. I have been married to it for more than 20 years. I love the environment, speed, constant change and evolution, and the passion that characterizes all the people who are part of it. I was fortunate to work for some of the best retail companies in the planet, covering strategic roles, traveling a lot, getting in contact with many cultures and customers, filling up my professional baggage, but also opening my mind and enriching my personality and my way of living.
How comes the decision to launch your own company?
I always had in my mind to create my own company, and it was always very clear to me that it should be in this sector. A retail consulting company gives me the opportunity to keep discovering new brands and new organizations and following different projects I can keep feeding my inexhaustible curiosity and growing my experience. I’m sure that this will be also a good way to keep the team engaged and to make them grow professionally. Why now – Familiar reasons brought me to be living between Spain and Italy for almost one year, I needed a remote job or the possibility to work from wherever I could. So I said to myself that this was the moment to finally realize my project.
What’s the inspiration behind the branding of B_Labb?
I thought about B_Labb exactly like if it was a brand. I worked to create a strong visual identity, I believe that our style is quite innovative for a consulting company and, I’ve designed a clear and pragmatic brand strategy. I said to myself: “What company, what brand can trust us in selling its product if we don’t know how to sell ourself?”
Can you explain the concept of B_Labb?
B_Labb is 100% retail made, we are all retail experts, with a strong experience in the best retail companies. It is structured exactly like a brand company. The Retail department, responsible for all the Operations, the Marketing division, the Talent team, the Digital force, Sustainability and Health&Safety department and the Analysis department. I believe that this organization facilitates the communication and the comprehension with our client, and allow us to work side by side to the company’s structure.
What’s your aim for B_Labb?
My goal is to make B_Labb a reference for the retail consulting in Europe, I’m sure we have the potential to do it and I’ll work hard to make it happen. I would also like it to become an academy for professionals in the field, the greatest satisfactions of my career are related to the development and growth of the people I have worked with, and this continues to be the top motivation for my work.
